We are delighted to announce the 2026 KLM Scholarship recipients! Two outstanding young scholars, Uyanda and Casandra, were selected from a candidate pool of 126. They impressed us with their resilience, talent, and determination to pursue their dreams despite challenging circumstances.
Uyanda, a student at Hazyview Comprehensive, lives in Mgcobanini Trust with her family of five. Her mother supports the household through sewing, while her stepfather volunteers with the reserve police and takes on electrical work. Confident and articulate, Uyanda shared her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She enjoys mathematics, is eager to learn guitar, and looks forward to exploring new subjects and cultures at Uplands.
Casandra, Head Girl of Pagani Primary School and currently in Grade 7, lives in a small four-room home with her mother, grandmother, and extended family of thirteen. Her mother earns an income selling airtime at the taxi rank. Casandra shows remarkable poise and responsibility. She loves mathematics, hopes to become a chartered accountant, and dreams of helping her community with better infrastructure, water access, and child safety. She embraces new opportunities with courage.
Together, Uyanda and Casandra embody the spirit of KLM: resilience, curiosity, and a drive to make a difference. We are proud to welcome them as 2026 KLM Scholars!
